Environmental Health & Safety Generalist

Pay Range: $60,000 - $76,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications

Work schedule: Monday – Thursday 1:00pm – 11:00pm

MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Generalist for our Fort Myers, FL location.

This position will provide leadership, guidance and resources to the leadership and production team. Maintain all safety compliance regulations, programs, procedures, and work in unison with EHS Manager.

• Track, forecast, manage Worker's Compensation costs by supporting and educating facility management on effective loss prevention practices.
• The ability to establish and lead external audits of consultants and contractors to evaluate conformance with the EHS requirements of the business.
• Developing and implementing environmental, health and safety strategies and action plans that define and ensure the VPP culture and company’s commitment to a proactive safety culture, while providing functionable training in these various topics.

• Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole) is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Business with a Human Resources or Safety concentration and 3-5 years of HR or Safety Generalist experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding safety and employment practices
• Ability to multi-task, deal with team members with diverse backgrounds at varying levels of the organization and good problem-solving skills
• Superior presentations and analytical skills
• Demonstrated skills to manage a variety of assignments simultaneously.
• Ability to manage and set priorities for multiple tasks.
• High level of customer focus, both internal and external.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Knowledge of OSHA cooperative program (VPP) Voluntary Protection Program.
