Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the Continuous Improvement Manager. They will help to manage all facility Continuous Improvement (CI) Activities, and implementation of CI methods such as RHEO Smart Video, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5 Why Problem Solving, A3 Projects and Data Analysis to drive out waste and improve performance.  This role will help the C.I. Manager run events and provide training as needed. This will include helping to foster the professional development of facility Leads, Supervisors, and Managers by being a leading, proactive change agent that drives a CI culture.  These activities will take place at Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3.

Responsibilities

  • Help to facilitate management team to identify and develop annual improvement plans consistent with and in support of the strategic plan and business operating plan. Support the C.I. Manager by helping to identify goals for CI events and potential quantifiable savings
  • Support the C.I. Manager in the selection, scope, planning, and execution of specific improvement projects.
  • Help develop training materials and effectively deliver those materials in a team environment to ensure Team Members throughout the facility are trained in CI concepts and philosophy.

  • Initial organization and planning
  • Event logistics
  • Overall program communications (future events, event updates, report outs)
  • Monitor and maintain event schedules
  • Follow up and audit event progress to ensure results are achieved and sustained.
  • Perform value stream mapping activities
  • Capture cycle times
  • Resolve implementation issues, creating and managing implementation communication processes, and ensuring consistency of implemented processes and programs throughout facility.
  • Coordinate with department Supervisor/Managers to eliminate barriers. Raise awareness if/when
    Perform audits.
  • Take a lead role in promoting and improving Safety, Quality and Cost processes, expectations, and
  • Support motivating, coaching, and developing people in various departments.
  • Create and execute tools, forms and job aids where needed in the business
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures related to all facets of job.
  • Incorporates The MI Way into the day-to-day activities and behaviors.
  • Attend department Startup Meetings and shift changeovers to connect with the various department Leaders as needed

Qualifications

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION:

The Continuous Improvement Coordinator helps support the C.I. Manager efforts in the implementation of CI, involving support of the C.I. Manager’s management and facilitation of teams consisting of 9-15 members.  

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience related to continuous improvement or similar project management.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior cross functional team facilitation experience preferred.
  • Strong background in problem solving, planning, and organization.

 

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING:

  • College Degree preferred but may be substituted by relevant work experience.

  • Must be results oriented with a people development affinity; proactive in attacking challenges and confident in setting and achieving stretch goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged sitting and terminal use, ability to move around a manufacturing environment
  • Must have the ability to move and lift materials and products weighing up to 60 lbs. as needed
  • Full hand dexterity

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office environment, production manufacturing areas, and meeting rooms. Varying amounts of walking, lifting, standing, and sitting are required
