Milgard Windows and Doors, a leading window and door manufacturer, is committed to excellence and Innovation. We are seeking an experienced Process Specialist to come and joing out Vinyl Composties team in Tacoma, WA. You are a key part of the Direct Labor team in sticks. The primary function of the Process Specialist is to assist Production Operators in maintaining the pultrusion lines to Tuned specifications (M-Spec). The Process Specialist will engage in advanced validation procedures and recommend process deviations to the shift Supervisor to ensure that the line is able to produce high quality parts. The Process Specialist must be able to complete their work accurately and efficiently; they will take technical direction from the Tuning Coordinator and work in a team environment

 

The hourly compensation range is between $29.00 - $35.93, depending on experience. You will work 12 hour days on a 2-2-3 schedule to provide work life balance. 

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate Core Value behaviors of: Focus on the Customer, Cultivate High Performance Teams, Respect for the Individual, Continuously Improve and Drive for Results.
  • Ensure that Tier 1 and 2 commitments are met including Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Understand the flow of materials through the tool set and the chemical process to make a raw stick.

  • Read and understand M-Spec settings – compare actual current state to documented settings.

  • Inspect dies with Tool Technicians to determine if there is excessive chrome-wear or damage.

  • Determine Root Cause for observed defects with 5-Why, Fishbone or similar problem-solving tools.

  • Make adjustments to the process or materials based on root cause findings.

  • Recommend repairs or alterations to tools using tooling work orders.

  • Use deviation process to validate proposed process or material changes.

  • Develop an M-Spec Change Request (MCR) to update an M-Spec upon successful validation of process or material deviation.

  • Work closely with Tuners and QA techs to ensure sustainment when tools go into production.

Qualifications

  • Completion of MOD 4 in the Sticks Department.
  • One year of production experience or similar.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two to three years of work experience.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
