MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are looking for a 2nd Shift Shipping & Receiving Supervisor for our Prescott Valley, AZ location.

 

The Receiving Supervisor oversees the Receiving Department and all the corresponding personnel. Assists and develops direct reports to achieve desired results.  Direct responsibility for all department employees to ensure proper orientations, training, development, compensation, and working conditions are present. 

 

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Shipping Department including plan, coordinate and supervise the activities of the shipping department during the night shift to ensure that product is shipped out and on a timely basis.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work performed in a warehouse-type facility with temperatures subject to normal environmental conditions.
  • Steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and safety glasses required; additional safety equipment provided based on specific job.
  • Work surfaces are primarily concrete with anti-fatigue mats provided where feasible. Personnel will stand while performing their respective job functions for up to 10 hours a day.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the material receiving activities to ensure materials received are what was ordered, in correct quantities, undamaged, etc.
  • Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of pickup/deliveries of waste material for recycling and to ensure compensation is received.
  • Review all paperwork to plan work activities, schedule appropriate personnel, and balance loads.
  • Manage expense accounts for department personnel
  • Support the order manufacturing process by working extensively with purchasing, inside sales representatives, production personnel, customer service, and accounts payable to ensure we experience no interruptions to manufacturing.
  • Develop effective planning and project management for process improvements and support the implementation of new processes.
  • Ensure the production floor is stocked to Company standards
  • Ensure that good communication with your colleagues is maintained, which ensures the stockroom team has a clear understanding of the issues affecting the stockroom, production floor, and shipping.
  • Reflecting MI/Milgard business values and MI/Milgard Philosophy in all business interactions
  • Ensure the safety of personnel and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations
  • Coordinates the loading of products to meet shipment schedules.
  • Ensures proper packing and crating of goods to be shipped.
  • Provides accurate bills of lading and keeps records of goods shipped.
  • Work with Dispatcher to monitor and actively pursue lowest possible freight rates.
  • Ensure the integrity of the location systems.
  • Organize and maintain the staging areas to ensure maximum safety and efficiency.
  • Perform all supervisory duties including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with transportation and other applicable suppliers & customers.
  • Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship always exists.
  • Responsible for inventory usage and all other department cost.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records (I.E., timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.)
  • Meet customer load dates by ensuring all scheduled products are made on-time, accurate, and 100% complete.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; some college preferred
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required
  • Previous material receiving/handling experience preferred
  • Glass handling and/or glass knowledge a plus.
  • Compute basic math problems to include fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to work in, and promote, a team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged standing and repetitive motions, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling
  • Prolonged sitting and terminal use
  • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to discern colors
  • Hand dexterity and strength
