Summary

The Product Liability Specialist has overall responsibility for preventing product liability claims and mitigating expenses while upholding brand value to our customers. The Product Liability Specialist has the overall responsibility for developing strategies to handle, administer and mitigate product liability-based risk exposures.  The Product Liability Specialist provides support, advice and recommendations on high-risk product claims and shares best practices through the internal organization.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with operations management, field service management, engineering, and legal counsel on the status and resolution of product liability and escalated exposure warranty claims.
  • Collaborate and respond to document requests, provide input on settlement authority, and participate in claim reviews.
  • Understands / reviews production home contracts for performance requirements, able to interpret scope of work, and indemnification provisions.
  • Investigates, provides conclusions, and negotiates back charges
  • Attend inspections and conduct analytical analysis of forensic conditions.
  • Attends and/or conducts destructive testing provides analysis of forensic conditions.
  • Inputs and analyzes service claim data
  • Work with operations, engineering, and field service as the technical eyes in the field.
  • Attends mediations, depositions and serve as the company's Person Most Knowledgeable (PMK) on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in the construction or fenestration industry
  • High School diploma (required)
  • College degree highly desirable
  • AAMA Certification highly desirable
  • Proficient with the MS Office Suite
  • Must have a strong understanding of fenestration products and construction practices and methods.
  • Read, write and understand the English language
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to present information to management and legal counsel
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports, legal documents, general business periodicals, and government regulations
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy with ability to learn new computer software programs
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work responsively with internal and external customers in a very fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Ability to work in, and promote a team environment
  • Must be able to perform with minimal supervision
  • The candidate must be a licensed driver and have a driving record that conforms to MITER standards

Work Environment:

  • Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment as well as in the field, outdoors
  • Regular travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged standing, occasionally climbing of ladders. Sitting and terminal use and minimal lifting of office equipment and supplies
