Engineering Intern - New Technology Integration

MITER Brands™ is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are looking for an Engineering Intern for our Tacoma Ops Support center. 

Under staff direction, incumbents in this classification are full-time students in a Science, Technology, or Engineering program who will perform various activities related to manufacturing of windows. As an Engineering Intern you will get an opportunity to cut, fabricate profiles using saws and other CNC equipment. You will be provided with training to operate that equipment. During the internship you may also get an opportunity to learn about various design and process engineering associated with those products.

• Assist in building samples: Collaborate with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, and Senior Project Managers to learn and assist in cutting, fabricating, assembling, sample windows
• Assist in developing CNC programs: Collaborate with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, and Senior Project Managers to learn and assist in the development of CNC programs used for fabricating parts
• Software: Learn and utilize SolidWorks, CAMPlus, and other common software tools
• Vendor Visits: You may get an opportunity to visit out-of-town vendors and help lead engineers and managers perform machine qualifications
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams, including process engineers, design engineers, operations team, and, to ensure project success

• Currently enrolled as a junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, or Engineering
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles and design concepts
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
• Ability and Eagerness to work in a factory environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong passion, high energy, and enthusiasm.
• Ability to effectively communicate in written or verbal manner with individuals from all areas of the organization
